Day 16: Seasons

I committed myself to a 14 day stay in Los Angeles, the beginning of something new. I’ve jumped into the arena of life and got knocked down fairly quickly. The damage was done, the wounds were healed, and im ready to go back in with a little more knowledge. Don’t avoid where the fights are, get in the midst of them, get knocked down so you can learn how to fight so you can hold your position. Most people don’t get out in the arena of life because they don’t want to fight, they don’t want to get knocked down or dropped to their knees. However, you’re going to be dropped whether you’re on the field, or you’re on the sideline. At least get dropped for something. After a moment of struggle, you’ll be amazed about how things will click for you.

Off that note, I came across a recurring theme I have been experiencing lately which is “seasons”. I have come to look at my own life and recognized seasons, seasons of growth, seasons of sadness/suffering, seasons of hate, and seasons of abundance. As I enjoy the bible for its poetic spirit and understand it doesn’t apply to everyone, I share this as such.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a season for everything,
and a time for every event under heaven:[a]
a time to be born, and a time to die;
    a time to plant, and a time to uproot what was planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
    a time to tear down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
    a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to scatter stones, and a time to gather stones;
    a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to search, and a time to give up searching;[b]
    a time to keep, and a time to discard;
a time to tear, and a time to mend;
    a time to be silent, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
    a time for war, and a time for peace.

After reading this it seems apparent the best stories of heroes in every culture, when they’re approaching a season of productivity and greatness, the enemy attacks in the form of bad luck, poor circumstances, bad breaks. The enemy doesn’t attack in seasons of poor health or times of hate, the don’t need to do anything, you’re out of the battle. Only when you commit yourself to standing up for what you want in life and taking the leap of faith to go after it, then the enemy attacks. Anyone can be positive and have strong faith when everything is going good, only when the road darkens, does the dream get tested for its strength. These sort of unfortunate events placed are meant to tear you down and ensure you have no self esteem to further pursue your dreams, that is exactly what the enemy wants, for you to not live up to your full potential and to sulk back down into impressionable society.

1 Peter 4:12

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you.

Right when you’re on the brink of mass productivity, be prepared for all hell to break loose in your life. It’s the world testing you to see how bad you want it, how much you’re willing to sacrifice for it, how much effort are you willing to put into this. It’s all a sign you’re coming into your season, push through.

Good things are coming up and bad things are coming up all at the same time, this must be my season.
